Tuesday, May 19, 2009 Update

Good Monday Evening everyone,

Sorry, I didn't post on Sunday.

Today was Monday, May 18, 2009 and the start of my 10th month and my 40th week at Oklahoma Natural Gas. I really love my job. I love the people, I love the work, I just love everything about it.

I went to the doctor this morning at 9:30 in Edmond. To give a little background, I was diagnosed with Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 with a blood pressure at a frightening 154/100. The doctor put me on a medication called Diovan to lower my blood pressure. I came down to 128/78 at my next appointment on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Today, my blood pressure came down to 128/68.

For the past 15 years, I have been suffering from mild to moderate headaches with occasional severe headaches. Over the past year, they have been increasing both in intensity and frequency. So, I let the doctor know about that today and he gave me some samples of Relpax, which is a cousin to Imitrex, which is designed to kill a headache within 45 minutes when taken at the first sign of a migraine. He said they won't work on anything other than migraines. He gave me 3 pills. If these pills seem to help my migraines, then my doctor said he's 99% sure they are migraines considering my mother has had migraines for the past 31 years, since 1978. If they do not work, then we'll go back to the drawing board and probably schedule to have an MRI done on my brain to start trying to determine what the cause is. He's pretty sure they're migraines now, but he wants to get a real diagnosis first. I go back to see him on Friday, September 18, 2009 and we'll reassess the situation from there.

There's no real political news that I want to post on today, so I'll leave that blank.

I will wrap up this post and will try to post again later this week

Introductory Post

Hey, folks,

Welcome to this new blog called "Brownie Points". My name is Jeff Brown, hence the name "Brownie Points". This blog will give an insight into the life and times of Jeff Brown. This will include my thoughts and ideas about my life, my job, my home, and my interests which are anything Christianity, United States Politics including Presidential, Gubenatorial, Congressional, and general Oklahoma politics.

I will attempt to update this on a pretty frequent basis and not let this blog set and gather "cyberdust".

Let me give an idea of where I will be coming from on the aforementioned items.

I am a 27-year-old bachelor from Midwest City, Oklahoma. My current occupation is Customer Service Representative working at Oklahoma Natural Gas. I have been at ONG for 9 months. I started on Monday, August 18, 2008 as a temporary employee and was hired on permanent on Thursday, January 1, 2009. I am living in an apartment in the north side of Midwest City/far south side of Spencer, Oklahoma. I grew up in Harrah, Oklahoma going to Choctaw schools. I graduated from Choctaw High School in 2001 and received my Bachelor of Science from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma in May 2007.

I am a Christian who attends a Southern Baptist Church in Choctaw called Woods Baptist Church. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 26, 1987 which was nearly 22 years ago. I don't consider myself to be a Southern Baptist Christian, rather a Christian who attends a Southern Baptist Church. In this blog, I will discuss the sermon I heard on Sunday, or what God is showing me in my daily walk with Him.

Politically, I am a registered Democrat and have been for nearly 3 years. I consider myself to be an independent-thinking Democrat with a lot of Republican tendencies. I am a populist which means I'm conservative socially and liberal economically. I'm not a tax-and-spend liberal, but I'm a working-class Democrat. I will put down how I feel on a certain subject on the political news of the day, but I will try to be as bi-partisan as I can be.

This sounds like a lot I'm going to try to take on, but it will be a good blog, and I hope it will be very informative.

I will start the meat of the blog on Sunday, May 17, 2009
